U3A Today!

I'm just packing up to do a class for my fiends U3A Craft group. We are making a twisted easel card, a straight easel card  and a stamped background card. All using Stampin' Up products which are carrying over in the new catalogue. (Apart from the deco-label dies)

Here are the cards we are making:

I'm also preparing for another class tomorrow where I shall be showcasing the new in colours! They are lovely!

Water Colour Spritz Technique.

My first video.

Well, having finally got around to it, it wasn't as hard as I thought. Within a day I've recorded it, edited it and uploaded it! I've surprised myself.
I think I have a few improvements to make, but I feel the points that need to be made are made.

The video shows a great technique for making ink spread with a water spritz. I made swaps using this technique for a Stampin' Up regional training day in Peterborough. Lots of fellow demos asked how I had done it, this spurred me on to get a video done.

This is the card I made for swaps.

Here is the video of how I made it.

My husband made me watch it on the telly, I was surprised at how good the picture was, not as bad as I had expected.

Here is another card made using the same technique and the same stamp set, Flowering Fields.

I really do like this technique, I hope you give it a try, please feel free to comment below and link to your result if you do have a go.
Many thanks for reading

Playing with water.

I'm being a bit artistic and experimenting with water colour techniques.
These were a couple of samples of a new stamp set available called Birthday Blooms.
I'm liking the effect but Hannah's just told me I should be neater when I colour!

Designing for Hochanda.

I know my blogging is very sporadic, hopefully I will become more regular at it one day. I'm back with some exciting news. I was very happy to be asked to join Dawn Macfie's (Of  Dawn's Inspirations.) design team for the new craft channel Hocanda

This channel is trying to be different from other craft channels in that its aim is to focus on demonstrations and not just power selling.

As the channel is very new, it opened on 27th of August, we had a very short time to use the stamps and get samples made. However, me and the other design team members got busy and pulled out the stops.
Here's what I came up with:

Dawn was then asked to repeat her stamping shows and we had a little more time to create so I refined my spotlight technique card using the cornflower stamp and did another colour variation of the purple butterfly background card. Dawn chose both of these designs to demonstrate live on air!

I'm looking forward to the challenge of another lot of stamps or dies or whatever Hochanda has in store for Dawn next!

Please take a moment to check out the cards made my my fellow design team members. They each design and create stunning cards, scrapbook pages and altered items. They are super talented ladies!

I'll be back sooner rather than later I hope!

Zentangle!?!?

Zentangle, doodling on a mission.

A cross between meditation and art. It's new to me but I had a go after seeing a friend (Karen Gipp) post about it on Facebook. I really enjoyed it and think I'll do more.

This was my first attempt. I think its rather cellular and organic.

The handbag!

There has been a craze within the crafting communities that I frequent. In fact we have many, where somebody makes something fab then we all have a go. One of the latest has been a really cute handbag. It fit three 4" cards inside and is a really sweet gift. (Or a fab toy for my girls who have both made one.) I found a video tutorial here by a lady called Chris Slogar. I used this as the bases for one of my classes using new papers from the new Stampin  Up annual catalogue. I'm slightly addicted to the bags and will be making more at my next classes too! (Different papers though.)

I just love these paper, well the are purple! The teal colour is called Bermuda Bay, it is gorgeous One of my new favourites I think.

The idea for the great friend card came from a lady called Linda Kasparian who posted a picture on a Facebook group I belong to. I love it.

Any ladies due to come to my next Thursday evening classes will be having a hug sneak peek!

Scrapberry's cards.

Well, my friend Dawn from Dawn's Inspirations did an amazing job demonstrating the Scrapberry's paper collections on Create and Craft. So I've got the samples back and I thought I'd give you a close look at them, with some, hopefully, better pictures.

These cards were made using the Elegy collection. It's a quite romantic with reds, greys and black.

These cards were made using the Fairy Tale collection. This is a beautiful set of papers, and having two girls who are fairy mad at the moment these papers are just perfect.
